Paint Correction and Preservation

Paint correction is designed to eliminate swirls and imperfections, restoring your car's shine. Based on your preferences, we can remove up to 80% of the defects in the paint most of the time. This process involves a cutting and/or polishing step, just as it sounds, this will be removing very small layers of clear coat that has these imperfections. Our goal is to get the results you want with removing the least amount of clear coat.

Some scratches or imperfections may not be fully removed. This could be due to the depth of the scratch, the nature of the defect, or because it's unsafe to polish certain panels where the clear coat is too thin. This is why we measure paint thickness around the car to get an understanding of what we have to work with.

Correction or Polish?

So the next question is to correct/fix the paint or to polish the paint? It really depends on what the customers is trying to achieve. If you would like to remove minor swirls than a polish is likely all you need. If you want to remove etching from bird droppings or water spots you might need more of a correction. It will also depend on the hardness of the clear coat which does change some by manufacturer.

Do new vehicles need polishing or corrected? Even for newer vehicles that is just a few months off the lot might need a correction or polish. Although you've only had the car for a short time, it has been transported and handled by multiple people over several months. During this process, the vehicle is moved, washed, transported, stored, and washed again, leading to the accumulation of swirls and imperfections. It's common for new cars, regardless of make or model, to leave the showroom with noticeable defects.

Our process for polishing and corrections: pre soak entire car, hand wash, chemical decontamination, clay bar treatment, water spot remover if needed, correction and/or polish, buff off compound, apply paint protection, and dress tires and plastic.

It can take as little as 3-4 hours to 20 hours depending on the size of your vehicle or the correction needed.

Will paint correction remove all marks?

How often should I get paint correction?

If protected afterwards by a long term coating, you should not need a correction or polish for the life of the coating. If not protected by longer term coating, I would look at the paint every 2-3 years as long as it is still being protected regularly with waxes or sealants. You only have so much clear coat on your car so talk with your service provider if you have any questions before getting the service completed.
